Winter is here, and with it comes our Silky Gem® 6 Piece Seasonal Sour Collection! This is a limited seasonal set created for anyone who loves bold, fruity flavours with a bright, tangy finish. Each gem is dusted with a sour sugar coating for that mouth-watering zing, then finished in our signature crystal-candy texture: a crunchy outer shell with a soft, jelly-like centre that melts as you chew.

This winter 6-piece special features six flavour personalities: from playful nostalgic sweets to deep winter citrus and tropical jam notes, designed for gifting, dessert boards, and cosy “just one more” snacking.

What is crystal candy (kohakutou)?

Crystal candy (also known as kohakutou) is an Asian-style confection made with a simple base of sugar, water, and agar-agar.

As the candy dries, it develops that iconic contrast we love: a sparkly, crunchy shell on the outside and a soft, jelly-like interior on the inside.

In our Seasonal Sour Collection, we take that texture and add a tangy twist by finishing each gem with a sour sugar dusting so the first bite is crisp and zingy, then sweet and silky as it melts.

Our current winter Seasonal Sour box includes: Bubble Gum Cotton Candy, Strawberry Kiwi, Mango Lychee, Blood Orange + Jam, Blue Raspberry Pear, and Pineapple Guava + Jam.

Because every gem is handcrafted by our wonderful Silky Gem team, their shapes (and sometimes colour) can vary slightly, each box is its own little treasure mix.

Storage tips to keep your gems crunchy

  • Store in a cool, dry place and avoid moisture (humidity can affect texture).

  • If your gems arrive with any condensation/sweating due to temperature changes in transit, remove them from packaging and let them air out for 1–2 days to return to normal.

  • Crystal candy can have sharp edges and isn’t recommended for children under 6.
